Inventions that Changed the World

Solar paneled street lighting; the umbrella for dogs; the one legged bar stool. There are some inventions that have failed find a spot in the ritual of day-to-day life. Other inventions, however, have not just become part of our lives; they have transformed the way we live in a way that leaves us unable to think of how we managed before.

The television is one of the greatest inventions of our time and has revolutionised the way we receive information and experience the world. The development of the TV goes back as far as 1884 when a 20-year old German student Paul Gotlier Nipkow patented the first electro-mechanical television system. The invention used the process of converting a visual image into a stream of electrical pulses; however moving images were not possible from Nipko's work.

It is Scottish inventor John Logie Baird who is widely credited with inventing what we know as the television. He first demonstrated the transmission of moving images in London in 1925. Baird Television Limited made Britain's first television broadcast on September 30, 1929. The system used a scanned image of30 lines; just enough for a close up of one person. Baird's broadcasts continued until June 1932 but his legacy is forever felt and enjoyed in homes around the world.

The television opened up a world that was previously unseen to all people around the world. But, however much the TV has transformed modern life it is a device that only allows for one way communication, and does not allow for a dialogue or an exchange of information. It was a Boston Professor called Alexander Graham Bell who, as early as 1874, began work on an invention that was to open up the world of communication in a way previously only dreamed of.

Professor Bell's obsession with sound and communication began from a young age. His mother was profoundly deaf and his father and grandfather were all noted for their work on elocution and speech. Bell's work led him to win the race to be the first person to patent the telephone in 1876; the first system which converted sounds to electrical impulses and then back to a tone that sounds like the original voice. Bell's successful experiment with his assistant, Watson, on March 10th 1876 has become a thing of legend, when the first complete sentence was transmitted: ‘Watson, come here; I want you.' Bell refused to ever have a telephone in his own office stating that it was an intrusion on his real work.

Around 50 years before Bell patented his invention, work had already begun on another device which was to change the landscape of modern life; recording memories and capturing moments in time that would other wise be long forgotten. The first permanent photograph was made in 1826 by Joseph Niepce in Paris with what was the first early camera on record. The camera has since continued to progress and develop throughout time, with a revolution taking place over 100 years later than Niepce's work in Paris.

In 1975, Steven J Sasson, an electrical engineer began work on inventing the digital camera. The assignment was given to him by his supervisor at the Kodak Company and tasked him with capturing digital images that could be translated on screen within seconds. In December that same year Sasson captured a black and white image that took 23 seconds to record onto a digital cassette and another 23 seconds to show the image of a television. Since then the digital camera has revolutionized the way we use and interact with images, with people becoming their own photo expert; from printing their images to displaying them in digital photo frames - all in the comfort of their own homes.

Great inventions are diverse, complex and amazing but they all have one thing in common: they have changed our world.

Inventors And Their Inventions

If you have a passion for inventing you may very well fit in with the list of 13 inventors in this article. Although their inventions might be well known by many of us the inventors themselves are not.

(1) Frank Joseph Zamboni, Jr. (1901-1988)
Inventor Frank Joseph Zamboni, Jr invented the Zamboni, an ice-resurfacing machine, in 1949 in Los Angeles. And here I thought the Zamboni was a Canadian invention, we do like our hockey after all.

(2) George de Mestral (1907-1990)
After having to removing burdock burrs from his clothes de Mestral invented the world famous Velcro and henceforth generations of children never had to learn how to tie there shoes.

(3) George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr. (1859-1896)
Ferris is known for inventing the original Ferris Wheel for the 1893 Chicago World's Columbian Exposition.

(4) John A. Miller (1872-1941)
Miller designed over 60 roller coasters and held over 100 patents, many of which were for roller coaster safety devices that are still used today.

(5) John Stith Pemberton (1831-1888)
Pemberton was an American druggist and inventor of Coca-Cola, which in his lifetime was used only for medicinal purposes. I wonder if medicinal purposes meant that you threw a shot of rye and a few ice cubes in it before you drank it.

(6) Joseph-Armand Bombardier (1907-1964)
Canadian inventor and businessman Bombardier invented the first snowmobile in 1958 and has since been making planes, trains and Olympic Torches.

(7) Lonnie G. Johnson (1949- )
Johnson is best known as the inventor of the Super Soaker water gun, but on the side he also worked for NASA for both the Galileo mission to Jupiter, the Mars Observer project and the Cassini Saturn project.

(8) Luther George Simjian (1905-1997)
Simjian is an inventor of numerous devices and holds of over 200 patents. His most famous invention is the ATM, or automatic teller machine. I wonder if he also invented convenience fees…

(9) Marion Donovan (1917-1998)
Donovan is credited with inventing the first waterproof disposable diaper and our landfills have never been the same.

(10) Nolan Bushnell (1943- )
Both the founder of Atari, Inc and Chuck E. Cheese's Bushnell is credited with inventing the first popular video game, Pong, and the world's youth have never been the same.

(11) Ralph Teetor (1890-1982)
An unfortunate accident rendered Teetor blind at the age of five but that didn't stop him from eventually inventing cruise control in 1945.

(12) Ralph Wilford Samuelson (1904-1977)
In 1922 Samuelson was just eighteen years of age when he proposed the idea that if you could ski on snow, then you could ski on water. So naturally he invented water-skiing.

(13) William (Bill) Powell Lear (1902-1978)
Lear, known for founding the Lear Jet Corporation, was also the inventor of the first car radio and developed the 8-track tape.

If you have been playing around with that idea for a new product or way to do something now is the time to act on it. If you don't something about it soon someone else is bound to.

The Latest Inventions - Four Examples

Are the latest inventions the last of their kind? Are we reaching a peak in inventiveness, or even passing it? It isn't likely.

You may have heard he story that in 1899 the head of the U.S. Patent Office urged President McKinley to close the office because "everything that could be invented has been invented." Even President Reagan told the story in a speech. It is actually an urban myth, believed only because it has been repeated so often. But it does suggest the question: "How many things can still be invented?"

An infinite number is the correct answer in my mind. Anyone equipped with a few creative thinking techniques could come up with a dozen new types of chairs in a couple hours. They may be inventions only on paper, but multiply this times the number of possible items that can be reinvented and if only a small percentage of them are marketable... Well, you get the idea.

Then there are the things that have never yet existed. More than just innovations or improvement of existing things, these are entirely new inventions. For example, I recently received a gift from an inventor called the "Winner's Bank 200," which filled a need that has been here for a while. The size of a pack of cigarettes, it is a lockable bank that you put your winnings in as you gamble at your local casino.

Ideally, you slip a twenty-dollar bill into it whenever you win a little. By the end of the night you may have $200 in it, allowing you to leave ahead. Oh, did I mention that you leave the key at home, so it is impossible for you to give your winnings back to the casino? Now, that's a great idea. Here are some more of the latest inventions.

A New Self Healing Plastic

A person's skin heals itself, but plastics don't - until now. Researchers Nancy Sottos and Scott White and colleagues at the University of Illinois developed a plastic that has capillaries filled with a liquid healing agent. If you scratch it or crack this plastic, it heals itself in minutes, and it can do this up to seven times in the same spot. There will likely be many applications for this invention.

Printed Computer Chips

At the Seiko Epson Corporation in Japan, Masahiro Furusawa and colleagues have created a printer that prints silicon chips instead of etching them. So far, it appears that it may be much less wasteful than the usual procedure, which throws away more than 98 percent of the silicon in the process of etching. It makes one wonder what else can be "printed."

Strain-Reducing Shock Absorbing Backpacks

Typical day packs and backpacks cause back strain in part because they bounce up and down as we walk. To solve this problem, Lawrence Rome and colleagues at the University of Pennsylvania and the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole Massachusetts, have created a new suspension system. Normally, a five-pound load of books in a students pack can pull on the shoulders with as much as fifteen-pounds of pressure when a person is running. Their new system cuts that in half, using pulleys and bungee cords. One version of the new backpack even uses that motion to create more than seven watts of electricity - enough to recharge an average cell phone.

These are just a few examples of the latest inventions. There are a million things waiting to be invented. To generate new and innovative ideas, one can look at needs that aren't filled, ways to improve things, and new ways to use existing technologies - and those are just three of a hundred ways to imagine new inventions.

Buying an iPod on Craigslist: Tips for Success

Although the cost of iPods have come down in recent years, you still may not have the average $150 to $200 needed to buy new. As you know, an iPod comes better rated and recommended than a traditional MP3 Player. If you cannot afford the cost of new, consider buying an iPod on Craigslist. Why? Because you may be surprised how many good deals you can find.

To get started with finding cheap iPods for sale, visit Craigslist.org. You can choose your location from the main page. Then, use the search box on the left-hand side of the page. Your search should automatically be set to search for sale items; all you need to do is enter in your search phrase.

As you know, Craigslist only allows you to search one location page at a time. If you are one of those people who live in between two or three cities listed, you may want to consider using a Craigslist search tool. This tool is optional, but it can come in handy when you want to search multiple locations and categories at once.

Whether you use a Craigslist search tool or do your search directly on Craigslist.org, you will get a list of search results. It is time to review those results. Now, even though the website is mostly associated with the buying and selling of used things, you will find new iPods for sale. These are usually sold at average retail price. To save money, you want to look for used iPods because there should be a significant discount off the average retail price. When you find a good device with a cheap price tag, make contact with the seller quickly via email or over-the-phone. Cheap iPods are in high demand right now.

Since you are buying a used item to get a cheaper price, there are some risks with buying an iPod on Craigslist. But you can lessen these risks by being a well-informed shopper. This includes looking at pictures and asking questions. Ask the seller if the device has any cosmetic damage. Most importantly, ask if it works. You might be surprised how many people sell things on Craigslist as like-new when they don't even work!

When you go to pickup the iPod, turn it on to ensure it works first. If the iPod does not work and the seller lied, just state you no longer want the item. Some professionals can fix audio devices, but this repair will increase the cost. Remember, you are buying an iPod on Craigslist to save money, not to lose money or get a huge hassle.

Cell Phone Radiation: Top 10 Least Radiation-Emitting Cell Phones of 2009

All cell phones, once powered on, emit certain amounts of electromagnetic radiation in the microwave radio frequency range. During the past 15 years or so, when mobile phone use has become phenomenally prevalent worldwide, the effects of this radiation on human health has come under intense study and has been the subject of numerous heated debates. These past years, we've seen report after report that associated prolonged mobile phone use and exposure to differing amounts of cellular phone radiation to brain tumors, cancer, stress, headaches, cognitive problems, and sleep disorders.

Most of these studies, however, have either been disputed by other scientists or deemed as biased by other groups who also produced evidence to the contrary. As such, there's no definitive, undisputed conclusion, as of yet, about cell phone dangers. Scientists warn, correctly, that there's so much that we don't know about the effects of cellular phone radiation, and that the full impact may actually be known years from now when it is too late to reverse any damage.

"The latency between exposure and brain cancer could be 20 or 30 years," observes Professor Devra Davis, at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. By using cellular devices without any clear understanding of the dangers, "we are basically treating ourselves like lab rats in an experiment without any controls"

To mitigate potential cell phone dangers, experts recommend certain safe practices in using wireless devices. Some of the most common recommendations are: Keep your mobile phone away from your body, text more and talk less, use headset or speakerphone function, use your land line, turn off your mobile phone while charging, keep cell phones away from children, and purchase or use phones that have been certified or tested to emit the least amount of radiation.

It is with the intention of educating the public about the dangers of mobile phone radiation that the Environmental Working Group (EWG) has conducted an exhaustive study, covering over a thousand cell phone models in the market, detailing the amount of radiation that each mobile phone emits. The EWG is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded in 1993 by Ken Cook and Richard Wiles, that aims to "use the power of public information to protect public health and the environment."

Here are the 10 least radiation-emitting cell phones, according to the EWG report:

1. Samsung Impression (SGH-a877) [AT&T]
2. Motorola RAZR V8 [CellularONE]
3. Samsung SGH-t229 [T-Mobile]
4. Samsung Rugby (SGH-a837) [AT&T]
5. Samsung Propel Pro (SGH-i627) [AT&T]
6. Samsung Gravity (SGH-t459) [CellularONE, T-Mobile]
7. T-Mobile Sidekick [T-Mobile]
8. LG Xenon (GR500) [AT&T]
9. Motorola Karma QA1 [AT&T]
10.Sanyo Katana II [Kajeet]

Please visit ewg.org/cellphone-radiation/ to view the report and see the entire list.

As pointed out by the CTIA, the wireless industry's lobbying group, there is yet no conclusive and fully substantiated study about cell phone dangers. However, it is no secret that government agencies in some countries have started to post warnings and direct cell phone manufacturers to clearly indicate the amount of radiation that each model they sell to the public actually emits.

Until we're finally able to bridge that gap in our knowledge on the dangers of cell phone radiation, we can only take precautionary measures to protect ourselves. One important way to protect our health, is by buying or purchasing mobile phone models that have the least amount of radiation.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Camera Cell Phones

Camera mobile phones nowadays are unavoidable. Even if you havent bought your phone specifically for this function, the chances are that it will still have this feature, even if its at a basic level.

There are many uses for camera phones, which means it is handy that they are included in many devices, however, there are also some reasons why camera phones are a disadvantage.

Advantages of Camera Phones

The main idea behind camera phones seems to be that if you are caught without your camera, but are desperate to capture a memory, the camera phone can provide.

This is very true, as many of us dont bring out camera with us every where we go, we would only bring it to special occasions. Our phones, on the other hand, we rarely leave at home, so having a camera in the phone can mean that we are never left short.

On top of this, camera phones make it exceptionally easy to then send the pictures to friends or family, no matter how far away. As well as this, pictures can be uploaded onto your own computer, just like with a digital camera.

Nowadays, camera phones are so advanced that the advantages are even more obvious you can save yourself the expense of buying a camera and a phone, because you can get two in one for less. The cameras in phones are now so good, with red eye reduction, auto focus, and zoom, among other features, that digital cameras have been rendered almost redundant.

The cameras on most mobile phones often act as a camcorder as well, another reason why they are so popular and useful. Even if a lot of people have digital cameras, many people could not afford a camcorder as well. The opportunity to make short videos means many people can capture funny or moving memories that otherwise would have been lost.

Disadvantages to Mobile Camera Phones

Though there are many great benefits to owning a mobile camera phones, the devices have their downside as well. To begin, the better camera phones can be quite costly, because if you want the better resolution and added features, you have to pay for them.

Some networks also make it quite costly to send the pictures and videos you take, charging much more than the standard rate for a text message. This can make the sending feature of camera phones pointless as people are not willing to foot the bills.

Another downside to camera mobile phones is that if the camera sees any damage, such as the lens cracking after being dropped, then the whole phone has to be replaced. Unfortunately there is no way of restoring only the lens of the mobile camera phone.

Another problem that has received a lot of publicity recently has been the use of mobile camera phones for dubious purposes. Since their release onto the market, the phones have become used by some young people for happy slapping. This trend involved recording or taking a picture of beating someone up, and sending the picture around for peoples amusement.

Which camera phone to go for does pose to be slightly tricky for you and hence you should research extensively before you buy one for yourself.

Using VOIP with Your Cell Phone

Before many of us came to rely on cell phones to make long distance phone calls, our only option was to commit to a long distance phone company. Long distance carriers charged what were at times exorbitant by-the-minute fees to make calls to friends and loved ones often living only a few hours away. When cell phones came into prominence, they brought with them service plans that gave us such luxuries as free night and weekend calling anywhere domestically. Alas, even cell phones had their drawbacks, in that their reception was often broken up, and calls could be dropped unceremoniously. When along came VOIP, a new choice in long distance phone calling was on the horizon. VOIP has many different options, and now it seems that we have the choice of combining VOIP technology with cell phones. The prospect of VOIP cell phone service brings with it the potential for even more freedom and convenience, along with lower prices. Or does it?

Normally, VOIP service is available in three modes: ATA, IP phone, and computer-to-computer. All of these services are common and available for use at your home computer. ATA, or analog telephone adapter, lets you connect your regular home telephone to your computer and use it for VOIP service by converting analog sound bits into digital data. IP, or Internet protocol, phones are telephones that are specially designed for use with VOPI service. These phones look just like a standard home phone, but are wired differently to be VOIP capable. You can have a cordless IP phone that allows you to move freely through your home or office as you talk. Computer-to-computer VOIP is achieved by installing software that you can get through a provider. You make long distance calls from your computer, and talk through a microphone that is hooked up to your machine. All of these services are convenient in their own ways, but do not have quite the portability that cell phones offer. That is why the idea of VOIP cell phones is so appealing. Potentially, it is the best of both worlds: portability and low cost phone service.

Cost savings is by far the most attractive aspect of VOIP. With typical VOIP, you can expect to pay anywhere from $19.95 to $34.99 per month for a service that consists of many features, including free domestic calls, dirt cheap International calling rates, Caller ID, Call Waiting, 3-way Calling, among others. This, of course, is in addition to your current monthly ISP charge, which for broadband is usually around $40 per month. The combined cost for your ISP and VOIP services is likely to still be less expensive than if you were to remain in service with a traditional telephone company. However, this is not necessarily the case if you were to switch your cell phone over to VOIP as well.

Providers that offer VOIP cell phone services usually charge a monthly fee in addition to a per-minute fee. If you don't use your cell phone often enough to meet or exceed your current allotted plan minutes, then it is simply not cost effective for you to subscribe to VOIP cell phone service. VOIP and cell phones go well together for those customers that regularly exceed their plan minutes or make International calls on their cell phone on a regular basis. And, if your Internet connection if prone to outages, you could experience the same dropped call occurrences that you might often get with a standard cell phone service.

There is no doubt that VOIP is a reasonably priced and convenient way to bundle all of you communications together. VOIP service is improving all the time as technologies moves forward, which will allow providers to offer more reliable and even more affordable service down the line. Currently, VOIP cell phone service is in its infancy, and the kinks are being worked out. If you do the math, and feel that your monthly cell phone bill would benefit from a reasonable VOIP service plan, then it is worth the switch. If you do not make International calls on your cell phone, and you rarely or never go over your plan's allotted monthly minutes, then you are probably better off sticking with your traditional cell phone service for now than putting out more money for VOIP cell phone service.

Wireless Technology History: The Vast Importance of Wireless Technologies in Modern Business Applica

It's no secret that wireless technology has become the standard for capacitating communication, entertainment and education across the planet today. In today's societies, businesses would go under in the blink of an eye without it. Wireless technologies are at the very core of our existence - so much so that we have become dependent upon them in immeasurable ways. But where did it all come from? Let's take a closer look.

The 1800s:

In 1876, Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. By the end of 1889, there were almost 50,000 telephones in use in the US alone. 19 years later, Italian inventor, Guglielmo Marconi sent, and received, the first radio signal across the English Channel.

The 1900s:

Things started moving quickly, and by 1903, the first international wireless conference transpired in Berlin, Germany. In 1921, the Detroit Police began utilizing unidirectional radio messaging and by 1941, the Motorola Company supplied 2-way radios for police cruisers nationwide. Wireless technologies continued to be researched and developed and by 1966, AT&T's Improved Mobile Telephone Service (IMTS) did away with the necessity to push a button to talk. The same technology initiated automatic dialing. In 1972, a patent was granted to Bell Labs for their Mobile Communications System. That wireless technology capacitated handoffs between cell phones.

The 80s brought wireless technologies to the forefront of public consciousness. In 1983, the world's first standardized cellular service, Advanced Mobile Phone Services (AMPS), was implemented. It utilized a 800 to 900 MHz frequency to transmit signals. In 1984, the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA) was founded. There were 100 cellular systems across America in 1985 and by 1986, there were over 1000. That same year, the cellular subscription rate topped the 2 million mark. 1987 was the first year that the cellular industry ever grossed over 1 billion in revenue. And in 1989, Motorola released the first flip-top cell phone to the public. It retailed for a mere $3000.

US cellular subscription rates topped 5 million in 1990 when Nextel set up a nationwide series of transmission stations that allowed the top 6 providers to share towers. By 1992, there were over 10,000 cellular sites across America and subscriptions passed the 10 million mark. At the time that the Telecommunications Act was signed into law in 1996, there were over 38 million cell phones in use in the US alone. In 1999, with over 60 million cell phones in use across the US, Congress passed both the Wireless Communications and the Public Safety Acts.

The 2000s:

2000 was the first year that digital outnumbered analog subscriptions and there were then over 100 million wireless phones in use in the US alone. 2000 also saw the first camera phones released in the Japanese market. By 2004, the US cellular subscription rate passed the 180 million mark. BlueTooth technologies soon followed and brought us to the point that we stand at today.

There is no doubting the incredible impact that wireless technologies have had on both business and personal applications. Military battles, police logistics, corporate mergers, Mom-and-Pop grocers and even the vast majority of school children are all heavily dependent upon their cellular devices for their success and connections to society. Of course, the future will continue to forge further advancements in the wireless technology realms as well - a far cry from the recently-past days of life on Walton's Mountain.

How to unlock your Android Phone

Let's discourse the different (vs. same) methods of unlocking an Android phone; both in potential and from carriers.First of all, to unlock your Android from your live carrier, you'll need an unlock code. Unlock codes are not easy to come by. The easiest solution would be to just by an unlocked Android phone from say ebay or amazon. notwithstanding, these are much more big-ticket(prenominal) because you won't get the discount that cell phone carriers give you for subscribing for a contract. The 2nd hands-down way is to acquire an unlock code. I won't mention any special(prenominal) sites but I'm sure you can encounter a unlocking site by searching on a search engine. The hardest way is to call your cell phone carrier and ask for a code. This might seem stupid, but actually its a good idea. Your provider will likely set up an unlock code for you if you have been a loyal customer. Now that you have an unlocked Android, lets unlock its true potential. Google developed the Android operation system from an open source project. It's much simple to hack it than an iPhone or and other typical smartphones. To gain full access to your phone, you want to "root" it. Now you might be asking, what the heck does that mean?If you aren't acquainted(predicate) with computer hacking names, root is the ground user of a computer that has full access to everything. When you root your phone, you will get complete control to all the files and applications on the Android. This will allow you to do things such as transfer third party custom ROMs and widgets to have a unparalleled Android phone.First you should transfer an Android ROM file to modify your current build. Then link up your Android to your computer and transfer the ROM over. There are many clips that can show you a step by step diagram if you don't know how to do this. Your phone should be rooted now, you should download all the new applications that give extraordinary (vs. ordinary) options of root users; these new options include: faster phone speed and more modified hardware support.

Best Hacking Attempts ever

Experts can use their knowledge for good or for bad. Knowledge is power and man can use it, his own way.

In reference to technical experts, they can use their technical computer based knowledge for hacking. With word, "Hacking", only the impressions of those bad people came to mind who have created havoc by hacking bank sites or created terror by hacking security sites. But hacking can also be done for good, for instance to explore the unexplored usage of the device which manufacturers have even missed. It can be used to take an exciting tour of uncultivated technology segments, for which it was never meant.

The article will make you familiar with certain hacking instances which are brilliant in history and have turned the outlook of technology advancements.

Starting with our list, the first hacking case discussed is "Hacking of OS x86."Apple's Operating Systems are considered to be very secure, and there are very less instances of hacking this operating system. But, it is also not untouched by intended hackers and was successfully hacked in 2005.

Mac is designed in such a way that it will run only on Mac compatible hardware. Cross-functioning of this operating system say with Windows requires additional hardware, either physically clunky coprocessors or logically clunky emulators. To crack this security wall of Apple, hackers took the challenge and made it possible to run Mac on PC. They tossed out software patches to create versions of OS X that will run on standard, homebrew machines constructed from parts which can be bought at any PC retailer.

Indeed, hacking of Macintosh needs lot of code fiddling and superior coding abilities, yet it is a thrilling project to try hands on.

The next entry on the list is made by Cell phone, key gadget of the time. Enter the back flash and roll your memory few decades back, remember that classic midcentury rotary dial. Hackers are keen to bring that classic look into the cell-phone age, most notably Hulger, which sells a line of rotary-phone-style handsets for standard mobile phones. But, it was made possible by the Sparkfun's Port-O-Rotary in 2007 that puts a full GSM mobile phone inside an authentic old rotary phone, with the dial, ringer, and even the dial tone still functional.

Then making it to the list is fighting between good and bad; good for users and bad for creators. Creators are fighting against piracy especially, music industry but it seems people just love it. DRM fights against piracy and does not allow you to run same DVD over and over again on multiple devices. But, you say that you've bought a DVD and should be able to play it on any device you own.

To help you, programmer Jon Lech Johansen took the initiative and wrote DeCSS in 1999. DeCSS decrypts DVDs so that you can play them anywhere you like. He has written all sorts of other un-DRMing code, including many to blow the protection off purchased Apple iTunes Music Store files.

NASA is famous for its hacking actions. But, it always hacks automated systems to juice out that extra bit of performance. So, discussing hack of Apllo-13 makes a point here as it was done to save lives of astronauts. After a fuel tank explosion severely damaged Apollo 13's command module, ground control and astronauts hacked a system for removing carbon dioxide from the lunar module, and made it back to earth safely.

In 1961, computer gaming was pretty much unknown concept and that too using mainframes. Mainframes remind of those bulky machines spread across a room with underlying coolers to cool them. In 1961, Steve Russell designed the first action-packed, graphics-based, shoot-‘em-up game, which was controlled by the mainframe's front-panel switches. It was a hacking program and, using the PDP-1 mainframe to process a function for which it was not intended.

What You Should Remember When Starting Copywriting

Crafting quality copy is more than just having the skills to do it. But, it also means that you must know the main principles. This is why even those who do not know what they are doing will not have any problems if they have been provided with a good foundation. The goal of this article is to provide a few ways to produce effective copy even if you have never written one before.

The Beginning Sentence is Important: Aside from your headline, the beginning sentence of your copy is very vital. This is where your prospects are first presented with your offer and start understanding it. If the first sentence of your copy is not attention grabbing, then your potential prospect will not be moved to action. Instead of creating momentum, you have to grab your prospect's attention in the very beginning. Do not attempt to build suspense at the beginning of your copy because this will surely backfire. Be straightforward in your approach in the best possible way so that your prospect knows for sure what's coming up. It might be a little while before your prospect is totally convinced and takes action. But, before it comes to this, you should handle the first part first.

Don't Make Things Complicated: You should avoid assuming that people know a lot about your subject; explain things as clearly as possible. The more comprehensive you are about explaining everything, even if some people don't need all of this info, the more comfortable prospects will be at buying your product. Yes, some of your prospects will be advanced, but don't be vague just because of that. The more clearly you explain everything, the more at ease people will be about making a purchase. Make everything obvious, so they know why they need your product and what they have to do to get it.It's amazing at how easily things can be improved when examining Commission Ignition.

Make Your Offer Limited: One of the most effective principles of copywriting is to pressure prospects into taking action right away, before the chance passes them by. The idea is to make them feel that they must make a decision right now rather than postponing it until later. Presenting your offer in this manner will result in many people making a purchase so they don't risk missing out on the chance. Every offer can be made more enticing by using this trick.Individuals will hopefully know more about http://www.robselaney.com/deadbeat-revolution/deadbeat-revolution-review after reading this.

How To Get Rid Of My Security Shield Antivirus Rogue Antispyware? Eliminate And Remove My Security S

How to Get Rid of My Security Shield Antivirus Rogue Antispyware? Eliminate and Remove My Security Shield Antivirus Completely

My Security Shield Antivirus is not a legitimate and Real Antispyware Program but itself a spyware, more precisely a new kind of rogue antispyware program from the same family of Security Master AV and My Security Engine. The only difference being the core files are modified a little bit and the name is changed to hide it's detection by legitimate Antivirus programs installed on your PC.

This program is distributed with the help of trojans. When the trojan is started, it will automatically download and install My Security Shield Antivirus onto your computer without your consent and knowledge and configure it to run when you start Windows.

When My Security Shield Antivirus is started, it will imitate a system scan and detect a lot of various infections that will not be fixed unless you first purchase the program. Important to know, all of these reported infections are fake and don't actually exist on your computer! So you can safely ignore the scan results.

While My Security Shield Antivirus is running, it will block the ability to run any programs as a method to scare you into thinking that your computer is infected with malware.

The following warnings will be shown

Warning! Access conflict detected!
An unidentified program is trying to access system process address space.
Process Name: AllowedForm
Location: C:Windows...notepad.exe

Warning! Identity theft attempt detected

Memory access problem
WindowsErrorForm has encountered a problem at address 0x1FC408.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you see this error again, operational information can be irrevocably lost.

Warning! Virus detected
Threat Detected: Trojan-PSW.VBS.Half
Description: This is a VBScript-virus. It steals user's password

Of course, all of above warnings and alerts nothing more but a scam and like false scan results should be ignored!

As you can see, My Security Shield Antivirus is a scam that designed with one purpose to trick you into purchasing the so-called full version of the program. Do not fall for these virus creators bait into buying the Rogueware! and if you already have, you should contact your credit card company and dispute the charges.

And now coming back on How to Get Rid of My Security Shield Antivirus, you need a solid program to fix the damages, the rogue has caused. It alters files, folders, permissions and registry keys.

Though some anti-Malware programs like MalwareBytes claim to delete this malicious fake anti-spywares, they cannot correct all the damages it causes

So you need something as good as Reimage, to fix all the damages that was left behind, to delete all the traces completely....to revive your PC from malicious trojans that may still reside and make your PC slow and to stop from getting re-infected.

When you try to fix this rogue, by running legitimate antivirus you encounter that app cannot be executed warning, task manager disabled, registry editing disabled etc..

iPhones, Droids, iPads, and Apps:

With more than 50 million iPhones currently in use, Droid quickly approaching a similar number, and over a million iPads sold in the first month, next generation mobile devices are starting to make a heavy impact on the way we live and work. But while everyone seems to agree that they're cool, convenient, and cutting-edge, the question for most companies remains: how do we integrate them into our marketing and public relations mix? And should we?

I wouldn't pretend there is any one answer to that question, but neither would I recommend two of the most popular options I've seen: ignoring new mobile technology completely, or going overboard and spending millions of dollars chasing the latest craze. Reaching buyers on iPhones, Droids, and iPads can require a few new tricks, but that doesn't mean you have to completely change what you're doing now.

To get you pointed in the right direction, I'd like to offer four tips on marketing to the tens of millions of next-generation mobile device users out there:

Make your content accessible. The most effective thing you can do to iPhone, Droid, and iPad users is also the easiest - make sure that all of your content, from your company's homepage on down to your blog posts and Tweets, can be accessed by mobile devices. It's never been easier to stay in touch on the go, and as a result, more customers than ever are coming to you from on the road. The last thing you want is for them to not be able to find what they're looking for.

Besides, making your online materials and mobile-friendly usually doesn't require a complete overhaul, although it might mean ditching the use of Flash anywhere on your Web site. Certain technologies don't play well with mobile devices, and Apple founder Steve Jobs has made it clear that there aren't any plans to integrate some of them in the future.

Go real-time. The Internet has always been about speed, and today's mobile devices certainly aren't doing anything to change that trend. By giving people round-the-clock access to information, they create a demand for instantaneous updates. In other words, if something is happening today, post it today, not tomorrow or later in the week. Keeping up with industry news and breaking developments are one of the biggest reasons people go online, especially when they're on the move, so try to be a current resource.

Develop apps. Since it's always better to have people coming to you than vice versa, why not give them plenty of reasons to come in contact with your company every day or week? Other than breaking news and expert advice, perhaps the best way to tie in to your customers' daily lives is by developing apps that help them do their jobs or manage their time more efficiently. The more programs you have for visitors to download and install, the more often they are going to think of you and your brand - especially if your app is one they can't live without.

I should throw in a word of caution here though: apps tend to be good for developing client relationships, but bad for generating quick profits. With the numbers of next-generation mobile device users exploding, certain developers have been recommending apps as a way to get in on the gold rush. As great as that sounds in theory, the reality is that most of the millions of apps available cost more to produce than they'll ever earn back in sales. Keep that in mind as you consider development bids, and consider the investment part of a long-term strategy, rather than a short-term boost to the bottom line.

Think fast. Why not ask your customers what sort of information they'd like to have at their fingertips while they're on the go? Not only does asking this simple question engage your customers and improve relationships, but the answers can often help you find holes in your current mobile strategy. It's a classic win-win situation That's because a lot of the information that people want from you when they're mobile - like account details, product information, customer service numbers, etc. - could be buried somewhere deep within your site. If that's the case, consider moving them all to one easy-to-access place. iPhones, Droids, and iPads are all about convenience, so try to make it easy for people who are using them to find what they're looking for quickly.

If you haven't thought about what happens when your customers come to you through mobile devices, then now is the time to start integrating some of these strategies into your marketing plan. Not everyone has an iPhone, Droid, or iPad yet, but the trends are clear - with nearly 100 million Americans poised to own at least one of these devices by this time next year, now might be a great time to adopt some of these tips and stay ahead of the curve.

How to Convert MIDI Ringtones to iPhone for Free in 5 Simple Steps

It seems like everyone has an iPhone these days. It's a great multimedia gadget that can handle a wide variety of tasks. The iPhone is more like a pocket computer than a cell phone. One great thing about the iPhone is that it is backed by Apple, who consistently ranks high on all measures of customer satisfaction. Apple makes your cell phone experience fun.

A great feature about the iPhone is the ability to customize any song into a personalized 30 second ringtone. For most of the music in your library, this costs $1.99. Unfortunately, Apple doesn't provide any sort of support for converting MIDI ringtones. This is understandable, since they would like you to buy ringtones directly from them. However, with so many free MIDI files available on the internet, there is no reason that we iPhone owners shouldn't be able to use them as our own personal ringtones. I had a few MIDI files that I used on my older phones as ringtones that I also wanted to use on my iPhone. Since there is no built in support from Apple, I decided that I needed to figure it out on my own. Here is what I found.

The Problem:

Why can't we just use the MIDI files as ringtones as they are? Well, for whatever reason, the iPhone only recognizes ringtones that are in Apple's proprietary .m4r file format. MIDI files are either .mid or .midi file format, so we need to figure out how to convert a .mid or .midi to .m4r.

Your Options:

You actually have quite a few options when it comes to configuring MIDI files for use as an iPhone ringtone. There are several software packages available that can do this for you. Here are a couple programs that might get you started:

1. iPhone Mobile Ringtone Converter ringtone4me.com - $25
2. iPhone Ringtone Maker .mp3-to-m4r.com/midi_to_m4r_converter.html - $14.95

Unfortunately, neither of these options is free, and I thought that paying for a program defeated the purpose of using the free MIDI files you can find on the internet as ringtones.

Another option is to first convert your MIDI file into mp3 format. Mp3 is far and away the most common file format for music. Because of this, there are a myriad of programs and software that will allow you to convert any file type to mp3. There are many other programs that then allow you to convert mp3 into another music file format.

There are numerous ways to do this, but I am going to teach you the way that I found to be the simplest, and which requires no software downloads.

Why No Software Downloads?

Software is great, but it is a good idea to avoid downloading unnecessary software from the internet, even if it's free. More software on your computer means less hard drive space, it means a slower computer, it means more things to keep track of, and worst of all, freeware is often packaged with spyware and viruses. The method I am going to show you only requires iTunes, which you are already required to have to use your iPhone.

The Process:

This is a simple 5 step process, as outlined below:

1. Convert the MIDI to MP3 using the website (http://solmire.com)
2. Load the resulting MP3 into iTunes
3. Use iTunes to convert the MP3 into an .m4A file (Apple's music file format)
4. Locate the .m4A file in your computer's browser and change the extension from .m4a to .m4r
5. Drag the .m4r file into iTunes

1. Convert the MIDI to MP3 using the website (http://solmire.com)

Browse over to http://solmire.com. This is a simple, no frills site that can convert MIDI files to MP3. You may want to bookmark it. On the right side of the page you will see a button that says "Choose File". Click this button, and select the MIDI file on your computer that you want to use as a ringtone. Then, enter the verification code and click "Get Mp3!". It's that simple. Within seconds, the website will convert the file. Right-click the "Download Mp3" link, and save it to a place you will remember (you might want to rename it as well).

2. Load the resulting MP3 into iTunes

This step is easy, especially since you most likely use iTunes frequently already. Open iTunes, and drag the new Mp3 file into your library.

3. Use iTunes to convert the MP3 into an .m4A file (Apple's music file format)

Right click on the song you wish to convert, and select "Create AAC Version". Alternatively, you can highlight the file, and from your toolbar browse to Advanced>Create AAC Version. After a few seconds, a new file with an identical name will appear next to your song.

4. Locate the .m4A file in your computer's browser and change the extension from .m4a to .m4r

If you aren't sure where iTunes stores all your music files, you can right click the new file and select "Info". This will tell you where the file is stored on your computer. Once you locate the file, you can change the extension by right-clicking and selecting "Rename". Then change the .m4a portion of the file name to .m4r. For example, if your file is named ExampleSong.m4a, you will change it to ExampleSong.m4r. You may get a warning that the resulting file will be unstable, but ignore this warning.

5. Drag the .m4r file into iTunes

After you've renamed the file, drag it into iTunes, and it will appear under the Ringtones section. You may want to delete the AAC version of the MIDI from your library, since it no longer exists. Now, you may customize the Ringtone and load it into your iPhone using the standard iPhone procedures.

Enjoy Your New Freedom

In this article, I taught you how to convert MIDI ringtones to iPhone for free in 5 simple steps. Now that you are armed with this knowledge, you should be able to customize your ringtone in any way that you wish.

How to Extend the Battery Life of an iPhone and iPod Touch

When you first get your hands on this little beauty, the first thing you want to do is maximize the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch's (or iTouch for short) functionality. You turn on all its features of your iPhone and play with it constantly. However, the iTouch becomes a noTouch if the battery conks out on you, and it is now common wisdom that one of the least endearing qualities of the iTouch is a tetchy battery.

Check out some of these suggestions to extend your new best friend's battery life so you don't have to recharge so often. Many of these suggestions also work for many MP3 players, and the iTouch's big brother the iPhone.

1. Keep your iPhone, iTouch cool. Exposing it to heat such as leaving it in your car during the summer will reduce your battery's functionality and overall longevity more than anything else. The ideal temperature range for most iPods is as near to 72° Fahrenheit as possible.
2. Reduce the brightness of the iPhone, iTouch LCD screen as much as you are comfortable with. Better yet, turn on the Auto-Brightness feature, which automatically changes the intensity of the screen depending on the ambient light.
3. Keep your WiFi (especially if there's no hotspot), Bluetooth, Location Services (which depends on WiFi to work) and other built-in radio technology off when not in use because that drains battery in the background. If push comes to shove and you need to surf the Internet, use WiFi in lieu of EDGE.
4. Always upgrade your software for iTouch as it becomes available as it includes ways to improve on the battery's performance, so download the latest patches.
5. Conserve your cache. When you use the fast forward or play uncompressed songs such as WAV or AIFF files, you access the iTouch's harddisk more often because it needs to fill the cache for skip-free playing which means it needs more power. Make up a playlist so you don't need to keep searching for your favorite tunes and have songs that come in AAC or MP3 format because these are compressed files and take less energy to play.
6. Lock the touch screen when not in use to avoid activating some features while lying in your purse or pocket unheeded and draining your battery to oblivion. Using the Auto-Lock feature makes it easier to do this part. You may also want to use the hold switch.
7. Turn push mail off unless you are waiting for a really important email and you're staying put in a WiFi hotspot for just that reason. The push mail feature does not work unless it's connected via WiFi so keeping it on all the time is just one other way to hurry on your battery's demise.
8. By the same token, retrieve mail in reasonable batches rather than every few minutes, because accessing the WiFi frequently increases the wear and tear on your battery.
9. Some applications are really a drain on your battery, so if you can play movies and games on another gadget, reserve your iTouch for mostly listening to music.
10. For the collector but not a user, make sure you charge your iPhone, iTouch at least once a month otherwise your battery will just die of neglect.
11. An ingenious way invented to extend the battery life of your iPhone, iTouch is to purchase an external battery that can be used instead of the built-in battery for those times that total portability is not necessary. A good quality battery extender such as the IMP500 extends the battery life in one charge by as much as 4 times, and it is not much bigger than the iPhone, iTouch itself.

How to make cash developing cell phone applications for the iPhone

The coming of the Apple iPhone cell phone set off a veritable big bang Smart phone programs, add-ons and tweaks for the iPhone"both licensed by Apple and unlicensed. The variety of iPhone applications are truly astounding. Index finger sized moveable widget-like applications range from one which will increase your productivity, monitor your stocks, and tell you what to cook for dinner to ones which will teach you guitar chords and learn how to speak German. Making use of iPhone's wide touch screen and accelometer, these cell phone applications opened up a new cosmos of functionality and uses that were unimaginable to wholesale cell phones users before. Instantly it seemed as if everything that would be done on a computer could be done on the iPhone with the added benefit of being able to move around and the ability to interact with simplified, smart interfaces.

One critical question faced by all iPhone application developers is now to make cash from their application. Given the ocean of free application out there, how does a hard-working cell phone application developer make a buck? Well, we have seen of roads that developers take when releasing a new application:
1. Offer the cell phone application completely free of charge
2. Offer the cell phone application completely free of charge with the option of donating if you really like it (typically through PayPal).
3. Offer the cell phone application free of charge, but add an annoying nag message unless the user pays for the application.
4. Offer the cell phone application completely free of charge but with ads. Most of these applications offer the option of an ad-free version if the user is willing to pay for the application.
5. Offer the cell phone application with only limited or diminished functionality until the user pays.

Many developers who offer their application via the Apple Application Store offer both a "lite" version which is free and a paid version which offers improved functionality. This way the user can get a taste of the application without annoying ads or nag messages which negatively impact their user experience-and possibly turn him or her off to the application.

One serious challenge that all developers face is how to get the user to get a taste of their application and want more, without giving away too much for free. At the same time, developers must find a gentle method to get the user to pay for the application, without turning them off. As the multitude of cell phone application increase, users are less tolerant of advertisements and nag messages. While ads and nag messages are not deal-breakers or the average user, the way in which these are implemented will, to a large extent affect user experience. It is very necessary that developers who choose to take this route to decide how much, when, where, how often, which and other factors when it comes to placing advertisements or nag messages for the free version of their applications.

For example, one cell phone application for the iPhone which is a text messenging program named MySMS (an application which allows the user to look at text messages by time send or received, all sent, all receive, by conversation and the ability to forward messages and text in landscape mode) and tells those who are using the unregistered version that some messages will be delivered with a 30 second delay. This message is unoffensively displayed in manner that all iPhone alerts and displayed, with no flashing or annoying bright colors. The 30 second delay is not detrimental to the user experience and trial users can otherwise use all the functions of the registered version.

Another unpaid application call Record (Free) is an example of a cell phone application which was not so savvy in the way that it displays its adverts. First of all, there are other simple recorders available to iPhone users which have similar or better functionality, a smarter and more attractive user interface which also belong the free category. Most importantly, there are recorders like Record (Free) which have not only received better reviews, but are also free and advertisements free. Worse of all, Record (Free) is a cell phone application not only riddled with adverts, these advertisements distracting, brightly colored. Simply put, the fatal-blow to the success of this free cell phone application is that the advertisements on it total ruin the user experience. It also doesn't help that the icon of Record (Free) has the "Free" in unattractive
